BETWEEN ART AND FASHION IN FLORENCE

My best friend says I'm crazy and probably she's right :-) I am obsessed with Yves Saint Laurent and his art work, especially Mondrian dress which was also main subject of my thesis. 

In my obsession I was only dreaming of seeing Mondrian dress in MET in New York one day until I read about the exhibition taking place in Florence that I wrote about HERE

The day of my trip to Florence finaly came and I saw the masterpiece...

 It's incredible how Yves Saint Laurent got inspired by Mondrian's painting and created magnificient haute couture dress.

The exhibition takes place in Salvatore Ferragamo museum in Florence (Piazza di Santa Trinita 5), so there were also most famous shoes made by Ferragamo and those beauties:

Audrey Hepburn:

Beautiful. Just beautiful. 

It's open until 7th April 2017 so something tells me I'll visit it again :-)

Tickets 7€, but for it's worth paying even 100€ :-)

Between art and fashion

 IS the highest level of fashion - haute couture - an art? CAN it be considered as an art? Those are the questions that inspired me to write my thesis. Before I started I knew just a bit about the world of haute couture. Now, having my thesis done, I'm  absolutely fascinated by its beauty, the way it's made from simple design to being shown on the runway. The most incredible I find the way people work on those masterpieces- handwork, details, so many hours dedicated to create something breathtaking... So, seriously, is there somebody that doesn't think haute couture is an art? 

 "Is fashion art?" is the questing posed also by the exhibition that is taking place at Salvatore Ferragamo museum in Florence from 19th May 2016 to 7th April 2017. It's an extraordinary dialogue between art and fashion that is being presented by showing the most beautiful haute couture pieces but not only... 

 The exhibition is focused on Salvatore Ferragamo work and his XXth century inspirations but next to them we can admire pices of art created by Elsa Schiaparelli, Jean Cocteau, Yves Saint Laurent and many other, great artists.
